#Why structured data matters for AI
An AI system putting together an answer needs to know which organisation a page is about. Plain text leaves room for doubt: is "Hartley" a bakery, a law firm or a surname? Structured data removes that doubt. With Organization you say who you are, with sameAs you link that to your LinkedIn page or your entry in a business register, and with Service or Product you describe what you offer. Which types matter and how to write them is explained in schema markup for AI.
#What Flowproof checks
The scan reads every JSON-LD block on the page and walks through nested objects and any @graph, so types buried deep in the markup are found too. Microdata with itemtype also counts. Flowproof counts any block that isn't valid JSON separately: a single missing comma makes the whole block unusable.
Then Flowproof assesses what's there. A missing organisation entity is a problem with the heaviest weight in this area. Fewer than two sameAs links, no WebSite markup or no breadcrumbs each give a needs-attention item with advice. Content types such as Service, Product or FAQPage show that your core offering is marked up.
#Part of the GEO audit
Structured data is one of the four core GEO areas you see in full with a free account. It works together with the rest of your page: a clear author and verifiable facts make the entities credible, as described in content that AI cites. Also take a look at the full GEO audit and the complete guide to GEO.
